Is this already his farewell? In an Instagram post, Gianluigi Donnarumma has for the first time addressed the departure rumors and expressed his disappointment at being left out of the Supercup squad.

“From the first day I arrived here, I gave everything – on and off the field – to earn my place and defend the goal of Paris Saint-Germain,” wrote the Italian goalkeeper. But despite his efforts, “someone decided that I am no longer part of the team and can contribute to the team’s success.” This decision has left him disappointed and sad.

The 26-year-old was particularly upset because he was not able to say goodbye to the fans in a dignified manner: “I hope I get another chance to look the fans in the eyes at Parc des Princes and say goodbye as it should be.” If this opportunity does not come, he emphasized: “Your support and affection mean the world to me, and I will never forget them.” He will always carry the memories of “all the emotions, the magical nights and you, who made me feel at home.”

In addition to the fans, the goalkeeper also addressed his teammates, who are more than just fellow players to him: “To my teammates – my second family – I thank you for every fight, every laugh, and every shared moment. You will always remain my brothers.” One of these “brothers”, Ousmane Dembélé, has already shared Donnarumma’s statement on Instagram.

For Donnarumma, it was a great honor to play for PSG: “Playing for this club and living in this city was a great honor.”

The signs are now pointing to a farewell. According to Fabrizio Romano, the PSG goalkeeper is headed to the Premier League to Manchester City.
