It is crazy that even in retirement and fighting exile, Jon Jones and Conor McGregor continue to dominate the headlines of the mixed martial arts world.

While Jones announced plans to compete again shortly after retiring, he remains on the sidelines for the time being. The former UFC heavyweight champion has made it known he would love to be in the main event of the 2026 UFC White House card in the works.

But UFC CEO Dana White has gone on record saying he does not trust Jones to make such a marquee event. And with the build already starting for an event not expected to take place until July, that is not a good sign.

McGregor, though, who has not competed in several years, actually has more trust from White than Jones, as he told The Jim Rome Show.

“I trust Conor. Conor McGregor has never, ever – unless he is injured – this guy has always delivered,” White said (thanks to MMA Fighting for the quotes). “Jon, I’m a little more skeptical about.”

While not having had an official fight in four years, McGregor, a former two-division champion like Jones, has put his name back in the anti-doping program. That is the first step towards him competing inside the Octagon once more.

As for moving forward with UFC White House, White is planning a visit with President Donald Trump later this month. He said that the card will begin taking shape after the start of the new year.
