Inter Milan have reportedly set a 48 hour “deadline” in their efforts to sign Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.

The Nerazzurri have already had a €40 million offer for the Nigerian rejected. Atalanta reportedly made a counteroffer of around €50 million.

However, Inter could split the difference. Tuttosport report that the Nerazzurri are to increase their offer to around €42-3 million plus add-ons.

Now the question is when Inter will launch their next bid to sign Lookman.

Reports suggest that the Nerazzurri will make the offer early this week. But the exact timing has remained a bit of a mystery.

However, Tuttosport note that the meeting of the assembly of the Lega Serie A will be tomorrow.

And that could present the perfect opportunity for Inter to make their move.

Inter President Beppe Marotta will be present at the assembly meeting. As will Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi.

Furthermore, Inter and Atalanta Sporting Directors Piero Ausilio and Tony D’Amico could also be in attendance.

That signals the fact that Inter do not simply view tomorrow as another round of talks.

Rather, the Nerazzurri have always wanted to wrap up a deal by the end of the month. Therefore, tomorrow is the day Inter have earmarked for the decisive round of negotiations.
