Su Mudaerji vs. Kevin Borjas UFC Shanghai preview

Both Mudaerji and Borjas have struggled of late, but both men have a chance to start a winning streak at UFC Fight Night 257. Mudaerji snapped a three-fight skid in his most recent fight, a split decision win over Mitch Raposo in April at UFC 314. Borjas most recently won a unanimous decision over Ronaldo Rodriguez in March to snap a two-fight skid.

Su Mudaerji vs. Kevin Borjas UFC Shanghai expert pick, prediction

Serving as a solid offering at flyweight is a striker’s delight between Sumudaerji and Kevin Borjas.

Both fighters are competent counter strikers who aren’t afraid to exchange if the temperature is right. Each combatant has also shown holes in their game on the ground, but I’m not sure how much either party is looking to grapple this weekend.

Borjas is officially 0-0 opposite UFC-level lefties, but has not looked comfortable when seeing the southpaw stance. In fact, Borjas’ lone regional loss as a pro came to southpaw Reno Mendez, who was able to stun Borjas multiple times on the feet before finishing him on the floor.

I’ll be curious to see if Borjas is finally able to find his jab in an open-stance affair, but suspect that Sumudaerji’s length and speed will provide the Peruvian with a tough gap to close.

The pick is Sumudaerji by unanimous decision.
