Ty Miller reflects on gusty effort claim UFC contract
DWCS 77 winner Ty Miller talks to MMA Junkie and other reporters after being awarded a UFC contract from Dana White for his unanimous decision victory
LAS VEGAS – Ty Miller just turned 25 in June, so he hasn’t had these dreams for long.
But after his unanimous decision scorecard sweep Tuesday on the first episode of DWCS this season, he said his dreams already are coming true. Miller (6-0) earned a UFC contract with a trio of 30-27 scores over Jimmy Drago (7-3) in the co-main event of the season opener.
“I’m extremely happy. I’ve dreamed of this for a long time, so I’m happy to be here,” Miller said. “I was ready to go all three rounds. I knew he was tough and durable. But I also knew I could pick him apart from the outside. I was looking for the finish, but he was hella tough. He had hard kicks, too.”
Miller left the fight injured and said he had fluid drained from his leg after the fight, so isn’t sure how quickly he’ll be making his UFC debut to see those dreams continue.
“I think it’s whatever they think is best for my career,” Miller said. “I’m going to listen to what they say, see what they want me to do. But I also like to stay active and stay busy, too. I like to fight.”
